When I was in my 20’s I was working two jobs and burning the candle at both ends. I was so stressed out from the hustle and bustle of my hectic life that my neck and shoulders would sting and my muscles were so tight. I started to notice a slight tremor and shaking in my head. I went to the chiropractor and left feeling just as bad as I did when I came in. He recommended a massage therapist who had a quiet room set aside in her home which was designated for her massage practice. During that hour massage I never felt more relaxed in my life. When I walked to my car it felt as though the gravity upon my body was less in my steps seemed lighter. I actually felt like a new person and had no more shaking in my head. Just one hour of her working on me took it away for good!
It wasn’t until many many years later that I received my next massage. I dreamed of how wonderful my first massage was and anticipated my next one. I was sadly disappointed due to the fact that it was so painful. The therapist told me to let her know when the discomfort reached a seven on a scale of one to ten. She was very inconsistent with her pressure and I was sadly disappointed. It did not have a relaxing effect. I ended up with bruises on my body that lasted for weeks after.
It was around a decade later until I received my next massage. I kept thinking of how beneficial the first massage had been for my body and my stress levels. I’m happy to say that I did finally find a wonderful massage therapist that met my expectations. I was finally in heaven. She told me not to talk since I was not there to entertain her but I was there to receive. This massage therapist was located inside of a chiropractors office in West Palm Beach. Unfortunately, the place eventually closed down and I was left without knowing where else to go.
After a long time of not receiving massages I found my diamond in the rough called Nirvana Spa & Wellness. I decided to try a massage from Angel. It could be summed up as nothing short of total intoxicating relaxation. During my massage she used hot stones, warm towels, a salt scrub treatment on my back and aromatherapy that were all included at no extra charge.. The next time I went to see her she did a new cupping therapy on my shoulders which offered long lasting relief from my muscle tension. I will definitely keep coming back as a gift to myself.
I only hope that more people will begin to realize that massage should not be viewed as a luxury or splurging. I remember pulling enough money aside to occasionally escape to have a massage done. It felt like such a guilty pleasure. I’ve come to realize that it was foolish to feel so guilty about taking care of my body and mind though massage. I honestly believe receiving regular massages has added many years to my life. It helps my body to reset itself and balance my nerves. I am able to give 100% to my family, husband and business.
I truly hope you will personally discover how massage can change your life, as it did mine!
